معرفی
Dr. Ona Balachninaitė is an Associate Professor and Senior Researcher at the Laser Research Center (LRC) of Vilnius University. She specializes in nonlinear optics, laser micromachining, and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), with a focus on material interaction using femtosecond lasers. Her work bridges fundamental research and industrial applications.
- Scientific leadership in HORIZON-INFRA-2023-SERV-01-03 'LASERS4EU' (2024–present, local coordinator)
- Local coordinator for HORIZON 2020 LASERLAB-EUROPE (2008–2024)
- Project leader for 'LAMETECH INFRASTRUKTŪRA' (national program)
Her research explores:
- Laser-induced plasma dynamics across metals, ceramics, and glasses
- Periodic surface structuring via IR/UV femtosecond pulses
- Burst mode laser micromachining of conductive materials
- Terahertz radiation generation in air filamentation
- Diffraction control of white-light laser filaments
Key contributions include developing real-time LIBS monitoring for laser processing in aqueous environments and characterizing nonlinear optical responses in advanced materials. She supervises 1 PhD student and has taught laser technologies courses at Vilnius University since 2015. Her international collaborations include Erasmus+ mobility lectures at Gdansk Technical University (2019) and Coimbra University (2018).
