معرفی
Omer Morgul is a Professor at Bilkent University's Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He joined Bilkent in 1989 and has held roles as Assistant Professor (1989–1992), Associate Professor (1992–1999), and Professor (1999–present). He holds a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley (1989), an M.S. and B.S. from Istanbul Technical University.
Research Interests: Prof. Morgul specializes in boundary control of flexible structures, nonlinear dynamical systems, chaos synchronization, robotic systems, and neural networks. His work bridges theoretical control theory and practical applications in mechanical and electrical systems.
Publication Trends: His 15 most recent articles (2003–2012) focus on chaos control, boundary stabilization of flexible structures (beams/robot arms), and PDE-based modeling. Dominant themes include delayed feedback control, vibration suppression, and applications in legged robotics.
Awards:
- Teaching Excellence Award, Bilkent University (2004)
- Tubitak Young Scientist Award (1997)
- Best Lecturer Award (1989)
- Ord. Prof. Dr. Bedri Karafakioglu Award (1984)
- NATO Scholarship (1984–1987)
Professional Activities: Served as Associate Dean of Engineering (1997–2004), IEEE Turkey Branch Secretary/Treasurer (1995–1998), and organized international conferences (e.g., ECCTD'95).
