Omar Troutman

Omar Troutman is an Associate Professor in the Counselor Education department at The Chicago School. He is a licensed mental health professional with dual licensure in South Carolina as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPCS), along with national certifications including National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Board-Certified TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH).

His work includes designing a parental support group to address the coming-out process and advocating for enhanced CACREP multicultural training standards.

Dr. Troutman has presented extensively in 2024 on topics such as creative interventions for LGBTQQIA+ adolescents, clinical practice with gender-expansive communities, and mitigating toxic relationships' impact on health. His 2014 publications highlight strategies for counselor training and parental support in affirming environments.

Professional memberships include the American Counseling Association (ACA), Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), and Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (SAIGE). He co-advises Pride+, The Chicago School's student organization for LGBTQQIA+ communities and allies.
