Omar Hakim is a Professor of Practice at Texas A&M University, specializing in entrepreneurship and technology commercialization. He holds dual licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in industrial/systems and software engineering from Texas. His roles include teaching courses such as Technology Commercialization (SOCI 432/MGMT 479) and Social Entrepreneurship (SOCI 450).
Prior to academia, Hakim served as Asia Regional Director of Network Consulting at Accenture, managing P&L for 15 Asian countries, and was part of Accenture’s USD 1B VC fund due diligence team. He co-founded startups, managed an award-winning incubator, and holds over 100 patents in domains like FinTech, IoT, and machine learning.
His research explores antitrust policies, intellectual property frameworks, and the socio-economic impacts of innovation. He advises over 100 startups and has collaborated with entities like NASA, the U.S. Air Force, and the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office.
Hakim’s work bridges engineering, law, and business, focusing on mitigating anticompetitive practices and enhancing technology transfer mechanisms.
