Omar Badreldin is an Associate Teaching Professor and Associate Director of the Multidisciplinary Graduate Engineering Programs at Northeastern University’s College of Engineering in Toronto. He previously held faculty positions at the University of Texas and Northern Arizona University. Dr. Badreldin holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Ottawa (2012), an M.Sc. from the American University in Cairo (2007), and a dual B.Eng./B.A. in Computer Engineering and Economics (2001).
His research focuses on AI-driven software reengineering, machine learning applications in software quality prediction, and data-intensive systems. He has published over 100 refereed works, funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation and industry collaborators. His applied research extends to healthcare informatics and smart cities domains.
In teaching, he leads courses in Computer Systems Engineering and the Master of Information Systems programs. Recent collaborations include a Walmart Canada hackathon where Northeastern students developed AI-driven retail solutions.
