Omar Alhassoon

Omar Alhassoon is a Professor at the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University and a research scientist at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He specializes in clinical psychology, neuropsychology, and psychopharmacology, with a strong focus on substance use disorders, dementia, depression, and refugee mental health. He also directs the Institute of Brain Research and Integrated Neuropsychological Services (iBRAINs.org).

His research leverages neuroimaging and meta-analytical techniques to explore the neural underpinnings of psychiatric and neurocognitive conditions. Key areas include alcohol, methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin use disorders; late-life depression; HIV-related CNS changes; and neuropsychological assessment in adults. He is deeply committed to addressing mental health disparities, particularly among refugees and LGBTQ+ individuals.
