Olof Heilo, affiliated with the University of Lund, is a historian specializing in Byzantine and Middle Eastern studies. Currently serving as Director of the Swedish Research Institute in Istanbul since 2022, he previously held roles as Lecturer at Lund's Center for Middle Eastern Studies (2012–17) and Deputy Director (2016–21). His research explores intersections between Late Antiquity, post-modernity, and Islamic studies, with a focus on cultural identity and historical retrospection.
