Olof Akre is a Professor/Senior Physician at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery, Karolinska Institutet. He leads a research group focused on urology, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer, with expertise in epidemiology and robotic-assisted surgical oncology.
Research Interests: His work spans prostate cancer prognosis, surgical outcomes, risk stratification, and the development of AI-driven diagnostic tools. He investigates biochemical recurrence, treatment efficacy, and long-term oncological outcomes, including metastasis-free survival and quality-of-life metrics.
Collaborations: Partners with Harvard, University of Turin, Örebro University Hospital, and the Swedish Prostate Cancer Register. Key projects include SPCG-15 (surgery vs radiotherapy for advanced prostate cancer) and ProMort (prognostic tools for prostate cancer).
Publications: Recent articles explore positive surgical margins, robotic prostatectomy outcomes, and thromboembolic risks post-surgery.
