Olle Mårsäter serves as a Senior Lecturer in Jurisprudence at Uppsala University's Department of Law, Faculty of Law. He directs studies for the Law program (270 HP), Master's programs in Investment Treaty Arbitration, International Tax Law and EU Tax Law, Environmental Law, and the Land Surveying Program with Legal Focus, while also overseeing Faculty of Law courses for Medicine/Pharmacy and Technology/Natural Sciences faculties.
Holding a Doctor of Law degree, his research centers on Public International Law with emphases on Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law, Treaty Law, and International Organizations. Key projects examine impermissible treaty reservations, the influence of international organizations on legal centralization, Rule of Law in conflict/occupation contexts, and humanitarian law derogations in grey zones.
His publication trends (2001-2017) reveal consistent focus on treaty interpretation mechanisms and ICC provisions, with recent works (2015-2017) analyzing reservations and transitional provisions in the Rome Statute. Mårsäter has held institutional leadership roles including Uppsala University's Mentoring Board membership since 2002, Swedish Library Cooperation Association involvement since 2011, and EU Fundamental Rights Agency expert work (2008-2009).
Scientific contributions include directing the NOHA International Law module (2005-2011) and authoring "Documents in Public International Law" (2008, 2015). Externally, he serves as Commander of maritime rescue units for the Swedish Maritime Rescue Society and conducts international legal observation, including trial monitoring in the Middle East for the International Commission of Jurists.
