Oliver Speck is a Professor at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and principal investigator for Project B06 within the German Research Foundation (DFG)-funded Collaborative Research Center 1315 (SFB 1315), focusing on neural mechanisms of memory consolidation.
His research centers on dynamic changes in layer-specific cortical connectivity and subcortical neuromodulation during memory formation. He employs advanced neuroimaging techniques to investigate how neural circuits reorganize during consolidation processes, bridging experimental psychology and systems neuroscience.
As lead of SFB 1315 Project B06, Speck directs a multidisciplinary research group funded by the DFG to explore the intersection of cortical microcircuitry and neuromodulatory systems in memory. His work integrates computational modeling with human neuroimaging to decode memory-related neural plasticity.
Speck heads a research team at Charité specializing in high-resolution fMRI and multimodal brain mapping. The group collaborates across neuroscience institutes to develop novel paradigms for studying memory consolidation in both healthy and pathological states.
