Oliver Philcox

Oliver Philcox is a theoretical, statistical, and observational cosmologist with current affiliations at Columbia University and Stanford University. He holds the position of Junior Fellow in the Simons Society of Fellows at Columbia and acts as an Assistant Professor at Stanford University, transitioning to a full Assistant Professor role in Fall 2025. His research focuses on galaxy surveys and the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), with interests extending to computational methods in cosmology.

• Education: BSc and MSc in Astrophysics from Cambridge's Institute of Astronomy, PhD in Astrophysical Sciences from Princeton University.

Philcox develops open-source cosmological analysis tools like PolyBin and Spectra Without Windows, and has contributed to major surveys such as BOSS and DESI. His work includes precision covariance estimation for cosmological statistics and novel approaches to N-point correlation function analysis. He received the 2024 New Horizons Prize in Physics for his contributions to cosmology.
