Oliver Hülden is a Professor of Classical Archaeology at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) since November 2023 and Conservator at the State Collections of Antiquities and Glyptothek. Previously, he served as Senior Researcher and Senior Research Associate at the Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (ÖAI) from 2016 to 2023. He holds a Master of Arts (1998) from Ruhr University Bochum and a Doctorate (2004) from Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, followed by Habilitation and teaching authorization at LMU Munich in 2016.
His research focuses on Classical Archaeology, with involvement in excavations such as Ephesos, Aigeira/Samikon, Aigina-Kolonna, Leonidio/Prasiai, and Lousoi. He also contributes to projects in Egypt, including Kom Ombo, Hisn el-Bab, and Tell el-Dabʿa. His work integrates field archaeology, historical analysis, and cultural heritage preservation.
Hülden is affiliated with the Archäologischer Rat and collaborates with the Early Career Researchers Group at ÖAI. His career emphasizes interdisciplinary research and institutional leadership in archaeological studies.
