Oliver Forstner

Dr. Oliver Forstner is a Researcher at the Helmholtz Institute Jena (HIJ), a strategic partnership between GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung and Friedrich Schiller University Jena, focused on cutting-edge photon science and laser-plasma interactions.

His research spans critical areas in modern physics:

• Laser Physics, including relativistic laser-plasma theory and high-intensity laser systems
• Quantum Physics, emphasizing quantum field theory at extreme intensities
• Atomic Physics with highly charged ions and X-ray interactions
• X-ray Science, covering spectroscopy, polarimetry, and microscopy

As a primary contact for thesis supervision at HIJ, he mentors graduate students in experimental and theoretical projects utilizing facilities like POLARIS and JETI lasers, advancing research in strong-field quantum dynamics and photon-source development.
