Olga Gasparyan is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Florida State University (FSU) within the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy. Her research focuses on comparative political economy, public policy, and computational social science, employing causal inference and machine learning techniques to analyze policy impacts and public perception. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Rochester (2020) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Data Science Lab at Hertie School, collaborating with the SCRIPTS Cluster of Excellence and the CATALYSE EU Horizon Project.
Her work frequently addresses climate change rhetoric, health policy analysis, and visual sentiment decoding of political imagery. Key contributions include studies published in Political Analysis, The Lancet, and Lancet Public Health. She is a core member of the Lancet Countdown team, analyzing climate change discourse across public, media, and institutional contexts.
Dr. Gasparyan’s research bridges computational methods with policy analysis, emphasizing cross-national comparisons and the behavioral effects of policy changes. Her recent projects examine the polarizing power of political visuals and the health impacts of climate inaction through large-scale data analysis.
She advises students in political methodology and public policy, though no specific advisees are listed. Her work has been supported by interdisciplinary collaborations, including EU-funded initiatives and institutional grants at FSU.
