Olfa Kanoun is a Professor for Measurement and Sensor Technology at Chemnitz University of Technology since 2007. She graduated in Electrical Engineering from Technische Universität München in 1996 and earned her PhD in Metrology from the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich in 2001.

Her research focuses on sensors, measurement systems, and methods, particularly impedance spectroscopy applications in battery diagnosis, bio-impedance spectroscopy, inductive/capacitive/conductivity sensors, and material testing. She has pioneered flexible nanocomposite sensors for force, temperature, and humidity measurements and advanced energy harvesting/transmission technologies.
She has contributed to IEEE societies, founding an IEEE IM Chapter in 2004, initiating a student branch at TU Chemnitz in 2014, and serving as co-chair of TC 34 (Nanotechnology in Instrumentation and Measurement). She co-founded the international SSD multi-conference (2001) and initiated the annual IWIS workshop (2008).
Scientific Awards:
- 2015 Tunisian Ministry of Social Affairs Award for Scientific Excellence
She has authored or co-authored 7 books, 52 peer-reviewed journal papers, 110 conference proceedings, and 6 journal special issues. She serves on the editorial board of Technisches Messen and as Associate Editor for IJDSSS.
