Ole Johansen serves as a Part-time Lecturer in the Department of the Built Environment at Aalborg University's Faculty of Engineering and Science, Denmark, with contact at omjo@build.aau.dk and office at Thomas Manns Vej 23, 9220 Aalborg Øst.
His research centers on hydrology and eco-hydrology within groundwater-dependent terrestrial ecosystems (GWDTEs), emphasizing vegetation-water level dynamics, groundwater abstraction impacts on fen ecosystems, and numerical modeling of stream valleys. Work integrates field studies with hydrological simulations to assess ecological responses in wetlands, particularly focusing on bryophyte ecology and groundwater management.
Publications from 2009-2018 reveal consistent investigation into human-environment interactions, especially groundwater extraction effects and herbicide contamination in stream valleys. Key trends include quantifying vegetation responses to water table fluctuations and developing eco-hydrological models for sustainable wetland conservation.
Johansen contributed to two major projects: "Herbiciders skadevirkninger i våde terrestriske økosystemer" (2010-2013) analyzing herbicide impacts in wetlands, and "Eco-hydrological Modelling of Stream Valleys" (2008-2011). He presented findings at Forskningens Dag 2010 and the International Multidisciplinary Conference on Hydrology and Ecology (2009).
As a member of Aalborg University's Urban Hydrology Research Group, he advances environmental systems research within the Division of Civil and Environmental Engineering, focusing on urban hydrological challenges and terrestrial ecosystem preservation.
