Ole Ertløv Hansen is an Associate Professor at Aalborg University's Department of Communication and Psychology within The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. He is affiliated with Art, Aesthetics & Health and the InDiMedia Centre for Interactive Digital Media & Experience Design. His research focuses on audiovisuality, aesthetics, and narratology through a cognitive lens, with emphasis on digital media, interactive storytelling, and game studies. Teaching includes communication and digital media at bachelor and master levels, as well as media studies secondary education. Administrative roles include Chair of the Study Board for Communication and Digital Media since 2017 and membership in the Academic Council SSH since 2022.
Research interests span media production analysis, digital phenomena, cognitive approaches to media consumption, and interactive digital media design. Notable publications include works on video game theory, narratology, and cognitive aspects of media engagement. Awards include a scholarship from Det Obelske Familiefond (2006). Active in academic networks, he has contributed to projects exploring digital media phenomena, Nordic Noir, and media policy impacts. His work addresses sustainable development goals related to media's role in cultural and societal contexts.
