Olawole Famule is a Professor in the Visual Arts Department at the University of Wisconsin-Superior since 2006. His research focuses on traditional African artistic practices, particularly Yoruba egúngún masking traditions and their intersections with non-Western and Western visual cultures. He previously taught at Obafemi Awolowo University (Nigeria), Rochester Institute of Technology, Pima Community College, and the University of Arizona.

He authored The Ijumu-Yoruba Egungun Masquerades: Art and Spirituality in an African Culture (2009) and contributed to academic journals and book chapters. His work bridges art history, cultural anthropology, and spiritual practices in African art.
