Ogechukwu Williams is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University at Buffalo (SUNY). He holds a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin (2017), an MA from the same institution (2014), and a BA (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Nigeria (2009). His research focuses on maternal health, medical pluralism, and colonial medical systems in West Africa, particularly Nigeria. He has conducted extensive studies on childbirth politics, maternal mortality, and intersections between religion and medicine.

- Recipient of National Library of Medicine Fellowship (2022-2023) and multiple research grants
His work bridges colonial and postcolonial eras, analyzing how British colonial policies, faith healers, and international organizations shaped childbirth practices. Current research uses oral histories and archival materials to explore maternal deaths in Nigeria since the 20th century.
Active in academic networks including African Studies Association and Igbo Studies Association. Served as editor for Writing the Nigeria-Biafra War (2016).
