Ofer Gabber serves as a CNRS Research Director at the Institute of Advanced Scientific Studies (IHES), where he conducts foundational research in algebra and algebraic geometry.
His primary research domains include:
- Algebra
- Algebraic Geometry
- Étale Cohomology
- Logarithmic Geometry
- Commutative Algebra
- p-adic Hodge Theory
Gabber has pioneered critical work in alterations of schemes, pseudo-reductive groups, Picard groups, and duality theories. His recent collaborations with Lorenzo Ramero on perfectoid techniques in commutative algebra and with Adrian Vasiu on Barsotti-Tate groups demonstrate ongoing scholarly impact across arithmetic geometry.
He received the Thérèse Gautier Prize in 2011 for his mathematical contributions.
A major conference celebrating his 60th birthday was held at IHES in June 2018, highlighting his influence in arithmetic and algebraic geometry. His work continues to shape contemporary research as evidenced by recognition at the 2022 International Congress of Mathematicians.
