Odile Ferly is an Associate Professor in the Department of Language, Literature & Culture at Clark University. She holds a Ph.D. in Spanish and French (University of Bristol, 2002), an M.A. in English (Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle, 1996), and a B.A. in Spanish and Russian (University of Bristol, 1995). Her research focuses on Caribbean literatures and cultures, particularly women’s writing, with an emphasis on race, gender, history, and diasporic identities. She is affiliated with the Center for Gender, Race, and Area Studies (CGRAS), contributing to Africana Studies, Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies, and Women’s and Gender Studies.
Her notable works include A Poetics of Relation: Caribbean Women Writing at the Millennium (2012) and the edited volume Chronotropics: Caribbean Women Writing Spacetime (2023). Current research explores cultural politics in the French Caribbean. Ferly teaches interdisciplinary courses on Francophone literatures, cinema, French popular culture, and Afrofuturism.
Her scholarly contributions highlight intersections of memory, space-time dynamics, and decolonial theory. Recent articles analyze transnational narratives and cultural identities in the Caribbean. Awards include the Barbera Faculty Fellowship (2020-2022), and she has received grants from the Higgins School of Humanities (2022-2023).
