Oded Y. Steinberg

Oded Y. Steinberg is an Assistant Professor in the Department of International Relations and European Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, specializing in the intellectual history of international relations and social thought.

Education:

• BA in History and MA in European Studies from Hebrew University
• DPhil in History from the University of Oxford (Lincoln College)

His research focuses on cross-border exchange of ideas in 19th-20th century Europe, particularly Anglo-German intellectual diplomacy, racial theory, periodization of history, and intersections of genocide studies with humanitarianism.

Key publications include: Race, Nation, History: Anglo-German Thought in the Victorian Era (2019) and analyses of Robert Gordon Latham's ethnological theories, E.A. Freeman’s racial periodization, and Alfred Marshall’s historical writings.
