Obdulio Garcia-Nicolas

Obdulio Garcia-Nicolas serves as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Virology and Immunology (IVI), affiliated with the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Bern. The IVI functions as Switzerland's national reference laboratory for highly infectious animal diseases and zoonotic pathogens, operating high-containment facilities for research on pathogens up to risk level 4 in Mittelhäusern and risk level 2 in Bern.

His research spans critical areas of infectious disease science:

The IVI maintains a cooperative agreement with the University of Bern's Vetsuisse Faculty since 2014, integrating research, diagnostic services, and academic teaching. Dr. Garcia-Nicolas contributes to this multidisciplinary environment focused on pandemic preparedness, pathogen evolution, and One Health approaches to infectious disease control.
