معرفی
Professor Osman Bican is a full Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kırıkkale University's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, where he has served since 2012—initially in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering until 2021, then transitioning to Mechanical Engineering in 2022. His academic career spans research assistant roles at Karadeniz Technical University (2001-2010), Assistant Professor at Gümüşhane University (2010-2012), and progressive leadership positions including Vice Department Head and Vice Dean at Kırıkkale University. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and specializes in surface engineering, tribology, and materials performance optimization.
Professor Bican completed his academic foundation at Karadeniz Technical University:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (2001)
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (2004)
- Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering (2010)
His research program investigates surface modification techniques like boronizing and anodizing to enhance wear resistance, corrosion behavior, and mechanical properties of industrial materials. With expertise spanning tribology, corrosion science, and mechanical behavior of materials, he addresses critical challenges in defense, automotive, and manufacturing sectors through experimental and numerical analysis of steel and aluminum alloys under extreme conditions.
Professor Bican's publication record (2021-2025) demonstrates consistent leadership in surface engineering research, with 15+ recent articles in journals like Tribology Letters and Materials Science and Engineering A. His work establishes quantitative relationships between surface treatment parameters (boronizing time, case depth) and functional properties (wear resistance, corrosion stability), providing actionable insights for industrial material selection and processing.
He has secured competitive research funding from TÜBİTAK, MKE, MIGYEM, SANTEZ, and BAP programs to advance surface engineering applications. As an educator, he teaches core mechanical engineering courses including Tribology, Statics, Strength of Materials, and Mechanical Behavior of Materials at undergraduate and graduate levels, leveraging his industry-relevant research to enhance pedagogy.
