OSCAR BENITO ROMAN

Oscar Benito Roman is a Researcher in the Department of Biotechnology and Food Science at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Burgos, affiliated with Consolidated Research Unit 128 and leading the BIOIND Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology research group.

He holds a PhD from the University of Valladolid (2013) for his thesis "Studies of process intensification for the recovery of high molecular weight beta-glucan from cereals," supervised by Dr. Gloria Esther Alonso Sánchez and Dr. María José Cocero Alonso.

His research spans Biotechnology, Food Science, and Chemical Engineering with emphasis on process intensification for bioactive compound extraction, cereal-based bioproducts, and sustainable industrial biotechnology applications. His work integrates chemical engineering principles with environmental biotechnology to develop efficient recovery systems for high-value biomolecules.

Dr. Roman actively contributes to the BIOIND research group, which focuses on industrial-scale bioprocess development for food and environmental applications, particularly targeting resource-efficient methodologies for agricultural byproduct valorization.
