Nyoman Suadin

I Nyoman Suadin is a Lecturer in the Department of Musicology & Ethnomusicology at the University of Maryland (UMD), where he directs the UMD Balinese Gamelan Saraswati Ensemble. He also teaches at the Eastman School of Music and Swarthmore College, blending performance and pedagogy across institutions.

Research Interests focus on Balinese gamelan, Asian musical traditions, and cultural preservation through performance. His work emphasizes the intersection of music, dance, and community engagement.

Teaching & Leadership includes founding the gamelan ensemble group Gamelan Mitra Kusuma and fostering cross-cultural education since his appointment at UMD in Spring 2001.
