Nusrat Gulzar is an Assistant Professor (part-time) at the School of Education, Social Justice, University of Birmingham. She is in her fourth year of a PhD at the University of Warwick, focusing on e-portfolio technology's impact on pre-service teacher reflections in MA English Language Teaching programs. Her research interests include TELL, reflective practice, and culturally responsive teaching. She holds an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Dhaka and a second MA from the University of Warwick under the A.S. Hornby Scholarship.
Teaching roles include Senior Graduate Teaching Assistant at Warwick (2022–present) and Assistant Professor at Dhaka University (2020–present). She supervises MA/PhD dissertations and has taught academic writing, language skills, and media studies. Her grants include £1500 from Warwick’s IATL for fostering researcher belonging and a Hornby Alumni Project Award for mobile app integration in classrooms.
Key awards include Commonwealth PhD funding and the Hornby Scholarship. She co-founded the Social Sciences Research Exchange Group (SSREG) and serves as Outreach Editor for the ELTED Journal. Her work emphasizes inclusive pedagogy, digital tools for writing instruction, and interdisciplinary research methodologies.
