Nura Jabagi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Organizational Information Systems at the Faculty of Business Administration (FSA), Université Laval. She also serves as Head of the Organization, Society and Innovation in the Digital Age research axis at the Centre for Research in Information Technology and Business (CeRTIA).
Her research focuses on critical aspects of the digital workplace including:
- The gig economy and digital work platforms
- Artificial intelligence in organizational contexts
- The future of work
- Well-being and technostress
- Diversity, equity and inclusion in digital environments
Dr. Jabagi's work particularly examines how algorithms impact gig workers, the fairness of algorithmic management systems, and the psychological effects of digital technologies on workers. Her recent publications show a strong focus on algorithmic fairness, worker autonomy in platform-based work, and the social implications of AI in human resources decision-making. She has published in journals such as the International Journal of Human Resource Management, Internet Research, and Journal of Managerial Psychology.
Her notable research recognitions include nominations for 'Best Paper Award' at the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) for work on algorithmic fairness (2024) and perceived algorithmic autonomy-support (2021), as well as a 'Paper of Merit' recognition at the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada Conference (2015).
Dr. Jabagi's research has been supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) through Insight Grant 948191, which has funded multiple projects related to gig workers and algorithmic management. Her teaching covers Information Systems and Technologies, Responsible organizational information systems, and Information technology strategy, management, and procurement.
Her laboratory or research group centers around the Organization, Society and Innovation in the Digital Age research axis at CeRTIA, focusing on the intersection of digital innovation with organizational and societal impacts.
