Nuno Palma is Professor of Economics at the University of Manchester, specializing in economic history and monetary systems. Awarded the Stiglitz Prize in 2016, his research reconstructs historical monetary systems and examines institutional foundations of economic growth.
Recent work analyzes paper money systems in Yuan China and monetary impacts of Spanish maritime disasters. He leads projects on historical national accounting and institutional development across Europe.
