معرفی
Nuno Koch Esteves is a Research Fellow in Thermal Physiology at the University of Southampton, focusing on heat stress impacts on vulnerable populations. He leads the THERMOCARE project addressing thermal management in care homes and collaborates on UKRI-funded research on heatwaves and older/adult health. His work integrates advanced methodologies like vascular sonography and wave intensity analysis.
Education:
- PhD in Cardiovascular and Exercise Physiology, Brunel University London (investigating regional blood flow responses to hyperthermia)
- MSc (Distinction) in Sport, Health, and Exercise Sciences, Brunel University London
- BSc (First-Class) in Sport, Health, and Exercise Sciences, Brunel University London
Research Interests: Thermal physiology, cardiovascular responses to heat, and heat-related health risks in elderly and clinical populations. His work bridges environmental health and clinical physiology, emphasizing translational research.
Publications: Recent work explores hyperthermia-induced cardiovascular changes, thermal-haemodynamic coupling, and exercise physiology in aging populations. These studies highlight mechanisms linking heat exposure to circulatory adaptations.
Awards:
- Charles Lipton Award (Brunel University)
- Best Dissertation Award (Brunel University)
Teaching & Advising: Taught research design and statistics at the University College of Osteopathy. Currently supervises PhD students (accepting applications) and focuses on mentorship in thermal physiology and methodology.
Labs/Teams: Member of the Skin Sensing Research Group and affiliated with the Thermosenselab at Southampton, advancing interdisciplinary thermal physiology research.
