Norma Velazquez-Ulloa is an Associate Professor of Biology at Lewis & Clark College and Co-Chair of the Neuroscience Program. She holds a PhD in Neuroscience from UC San Diego and a BS in General Biology from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Her research uses Drosophila melanogaster to study the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying drug addiction, aiming to identify therapeutic targets by examining how drugs affect brain function and behavior.
Her research interests include neuronal specialization during development, genetic instructions for cellular formation, and the relationship between gene mutations and behavioral changes. She teaches courses in Behavioral Genetics, Perspectives in Biology, and Cell/Molecular Biology.
