Noemi Enchautegui de Jesus is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at American University. Her work focuses on stressors affecting low socioeconomic status families, particularly among African and Latin American descendants, emphasizing work-family balance and coping mechanisms. She holds a PhD in Community Psychology from New York University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Enchautegui has taught courses such as Psychology of Immigration and Women and Mental Health, integrating community service learning. Her research employs both quantitative and qualitative methods, aiming to inform policies that improve low-income families’ quality of life. She has been affiliated with the Family, Work, Community, and Culture Research Group at AU.
