معرفی
Noelle Held is affiliated with the Institute of Pollution and Biogeochemistry at ETH Zurich's Department of Environmental Systems Science and the Department of Environmental Microbiology at Eawag. Her research focuses on microbial decision-making and its role in marine biogeochemical cycles, particularly through the lens of protein biomarkers and systems-level approaches. She investigates how microbial processes link elemental cycles such as carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, and iron.
Her work includes studying the nitrogen-fixing marine cyanobacterium Trichodesmium, elucidating its biochemical mechanisms and environmental interactions. She employs computational modeling, nutrient chemistry, and protein biomarkers to understand microbial physiology and biogeochemical niches. This research bridges molecular-level processes to global biogeochemical patterns.
Noelle Held presented her findings in an invited seminar titled *"Microbial decision-making and the link to marine biogeochemical cycles"* at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology in Bremen, April 2023. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates microbiology, biogeochemistry, and systems biology to address environmental challenges.
