معرفی
Noelle Beckman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology and Ecology Center at Utah State University, with affiliations in Climate Adaptation Science and Mathematical Biology Programs. She earned her PhD in Ecology, Evolution, & Behavior from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (2010) and conducted postdoctoral work at MBI and SESYNC. As Co-Director of Graduate Studies, she mentors students in theoretical ecology, seed dispersal, and global change impacts.
- Education: PhD (2010, University of Minnesota), BS (2002, Washington and Lee University), Teaching Scholar Certificate (2020, USU)
Her research focuses on seedscape ecology, integrating empirical and quantitative methods to study seed dispersal mechanisms, plant-animal interactions, and consequences of global change. Key themes include tropical forest dynamics, spatial ecology, and functional traits. She leads interdisciplinary projects on seed dispersal networks and socio-environmental synthesis, with recent work on phytochemical diversity in Psychotria species.
2024-2025 publications highlight seed dispersal resilience in fragmented habitats and allometric perspectives on extinction impacts. Earlier studies span plant-soil feedback, frugivory by carnivorans, and human demographic patterns in paleo-ecology. Collaborations involve institutions like Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute and National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center.
- Scientific Awards: College of Science Outstanding Graduate Mentor (2023), NSF Fellowships (2015, 2012, 2005), SESYNC Short-Term Visitor (2020), DC Faculty Fellow (2019)
She advises graduate students in tropical ecosystem modeling, phytochemistry, and socio-environmental systems. Her lab group includes postdoctoral researchers and technicians, with active projects on seed dispersal under climate change and assisted migration strategies.
