Noel Swanson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Delaware (UD), affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. His office is located at 24 Kent Way, Room 102, Newark, DE. He holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University and an A.B. from Harvard University.
Swanson's research focuses on the philosophy of physics, philosophy of science, and logic. His current work explores foundational questions in quantum field theory, string theory, theoretical equivalence, and scientific explanation. He regularly teaches courses such as PHIL 105 (Critical Thinking), PHIL 205 (Logic), PHIL 305 (Twentieth Century Philosophy), and PHIL 306 (Philosophy of Science).
His scholarship bridges theoretical physics and philosophical analysis, with publications in Philosophy of Science, The British Journal for the Philosophy of Science, and Studies in the History and Philosophy of Modern Physics.
