Noel Castree is Professor of Geography at the University of Manchester with previous positions at the University of Wollongong. Educated at Oxford University (BA) and University of British Columbia (MA, PhD), his research examines human-environment relationships through political economy, Marxist theory, and critical geography frameworks. His current work focuses on expert representations of global environmental change.
Research interests include:
- Political ecology of environmental governance
- Commodification of nature
- Anthropocene discourses
- Geographical concepts of scale/space-time
- Critical analysis of global change science
Recent publications explore Marxist geography, disciplinary futures, and critical engagements with geographical thought. Administrative leadership includes serving as Director of Research (SEED) and Vice Dean (Research) at Wollongong.
