Noah J. Kaplan is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He holds a PhD in Political Science from Columbia University (2004) and an MPA (1998) from the same institution. His research focuses on American Politics, including public opinion dynamics, political communication strategies in campaigns, electoral processes, legislative representation, and advanced quantitative methodologies.
Dr. Kaplan has received notable recognition such as the 2024 UIC Faculty Mentor of the Year Award, along with multiple fellowships during his graduate studies at Columbia. His professional contributions include participation in the Empirical Implications of Theoretical Models (EITM) Institute (2003) and the Political Methodology Summer Conference (2001). He has secured grants like the 2008 University of Houston Small Grant Program for Faculty Award.
His publications span prestigious journals such as Legislative Studies Quarterly and Journal of Political Science, addressing topics like legislative ideal points, voter behavior, and campaign advertising. He currently advances research on political campaigns, quantitative methods, and representation in American politics.
