Nishtha Langer

Nishtha Langer is an Associate Professor of Business Analytics (with tenure) at the Lally School of Management, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), and holds a joint appointment as Associate Professor of Economics at RPI's School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on the strategic alignment of IT with business objectives, societal impacts of IT, and labor market dynamics in technology sectors. She teaches courses on IT strategy, competitive advantage, and data-driven decision-making.

Education: Ph.D. and M.S. in Information Systems from Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business (USA); B.E. in Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering, University of Delhi (India).

Research Interests: Empirically analyzing IT capital utilization, biases in IT labor markets, social media's societal value, and gender disparities in technology careers. Her work bridges economics, operations management, and organizational behavior, with notable contributions to understanding gender promotion dynamics in IT services (awarded Best Publication of 2020) and social media activism (#MeTooIndia study).

Awards: Best Publication of 2020 (Senior Scholars Consortium, ICIS 2021); RRBM Honor Roll (2023).

Professional Experience: Prior roles include Assistant Professor at Indian School of Business and visiting positions at University of Illinois (Gies College of Business) and Warwick Business School. Industry experience includes roles as Systems Analyst at Arbella Insurance and Systems Engineer at Tata Infotech.
