Niraj Verma is a Professor at the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs, Virginia Commonwealth University, where he served as director and first dean from 2010 to 2016. His leadership transformed the Wilder School into a stand-alone institution under the provost, expanding faculty roles in teaching, research, and administration. Verma's research develops a theory of planning and governance based on American pragmatism, particularly the philosophy of William James.
