Nir-Paz Ran

Ran Nir-Paz is a Professor at the Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Medicine, Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. He holds academic qualifications including an MD from Hebrew University (1995), specialization in Medicine (2000), and Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases (2003) from Hadassah Hebrew University Medical Center. He completed a Post Doc at UC Berkeley's Molecular and Cell Biology department (2007).

His research focuses on phage therapy, antibiotic resistance mechanisms, and infectious disease epidemiology. Notable contributions include developing frameworks for phage therapy protocols and analyzing the impact of public health measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. He co-leads research projects such as the 'Israeli Phage Bank' and 'Precision Phage Therapy' initiatives, funded by ISF and Rosetrees Trust.

Dr. Nir-Paz serves as Chair of the ESCMID-ESGNTA Executive Committee and Chief Editor of Frontiers in Clinical Microbiology. He has held editorial roles with Clinical Infectious Diseases and Frontiers journals. His work bridges clinical microbiology with public health, emphasizing translational research and antimicrobial innovation.
