Nir Ben-Moshe is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and a Health Innovation Professor at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Chicago, alongside B.A. and M.A. degrees in Philosophy and Psychology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
- Primary Research Areas: Intersection of contemporary moral philosophy (normative ethics, metaethics, practical reason, moral psychology) with 18th-century moral philosophy (Adam Smith, Hume).
- Secondary Research: Biomedical ethics, focusing on values in physician-patient relationships.
- Current Project: Book Idealization and the Moral Point of View: An Adam Smithian Account of Moral Reasons under contract with Oxford University Press.
He teaches diverse courses including biomedical ethics, philosophy-literature intersections, and historical philosophy, bridging analytical rigor with clinical insights.
