Nipa Banerjee is a Senior Fellow at the School of International Development and Global Studies within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa. With over 40 years of expertise in international development, her work focuses on fragile and conflict-affected states, foreign aid, and socio-economic challenges in South and Southeast Asia.
Research Interests include: aid effectiveness, post-conflict reconstruction (particularly in Afghanistan), rural development, democratization, and the impacts of globalization on developing countries. She has extensive field experience in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar, and continues to conduct quarterly research visits to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and India.
