Nina Xu is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Accounting within the School of Business at the University of Connecticut. She joined UConn in 2019 after earning her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University, and holds CPA and CMA certifications. Her research focuses on investor protection mechanisms, market efficiency, auditing practices, regulatory environments, and information processing costs. Prior to academia, she worked as a controller at Cameron International in Houston, Texas.
Her research interests include the impact of auditing standards, regulatory policies, and media coverage on financial markets. She explores how information asymmetry and regulatory frameworks influence investor behavior and market transparency.
Key publications include studies on SEC oversight of alternative investments, reputation risks for auditors, and the effects of media preannouncements on earnings expectations. Her work has been recognized with awards such as the UConn School of Business Best Paper Award (2023) and the Audit Midyear Best Paper Award (2023).
