Nina Valin is a Researcher affiliated with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU) and Wageningen University & Research. She holds a PhD Candidate position at VU’s Faculty of Science, Department of Environmental Policy Analysis, and concurrently serves as a Post-doctoral researcher in food and agriculture systems transitions at Wageningen University, coordinating the Horizon 2020 PLAN'EAT project. Her work bridges social and natural sciences, with a focus on the EU science-policy interface in environmental governance.

Her PhD (funded by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie NEWAVE network) analyzes the EU Water Framework Directive’s policy cycle. Recent work explores governance scale challenges, policy evaluations, and expert-driven policy entrepreneurship.
Publications emphasize water governance, policy evaluation, and institutional dynamics. She collaborates widely on EU environmental projects and contributes to UN SDGs addressing sustainable development and climate action.
