Nina Peitsaro is a Senior University Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry and Developmental Biology at the University of Helsinki. She leads and participates in multiple research infrastructure projects funded by the Academy of Finland, including:
- FIRI Peitsaro Nina (2023-2025)
- Biocenter: Biokeskus Suomi FIRI (2025-2027)
- Leadership Pipeline and Quality in Higher Education (2021)
Her research spans biomedicine, neuroscience, and environmental science, with emphasis on:
- Proteostasis and α-synuclein degradation in neurodegenerative disorders
- Nanoplastic detection using flow cytometry
- Innovations in medical education assessment
She received the teaching excellence award Årets svenskspråkiga lärarbragd in 2020. Her technical expertise includes managing the Biomedicum Flow Cytometry Unit, featuring advanced cytometer equipment for cellular analysis.
