Nina Pavcnik is the Interim Dean of Arts and Sciences and holds the Niehaus Family Professorship in International Studies at Dartmouth College. As a Professor of Economics, her research focuses on how trade policies and globalization affect workers, families, and children in lower-income countries, with a particular emphasis on child labor, economic inequality, and firm behavior in global markets. She co-led the Future of Arts and Sciences initiative, which restructured the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Division of Student Affairs into a unified school.
Education:
- B.A. in Economics, Yale University
- Ph.D. in Economics, Princeton University
Her expertise includes trade and development, with advisory roles at institutions like the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank. Pavcnik has been recognized for her mentoring and advising, and currently serves as Special Adviser to the President for institutional priorities. She plays a central role in implementing Dartmouth’s academic and administrative transitions, emphasizing collaboration across the institution.
