Dr. Nina Obermeier is a Lecturer in Politics at the Department of Political Economy, King’s College London, within the School of Politics & Economics (Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy). She holds a PhD in Government from Cornell University. Her research bridges comparative politics and international relations, focusing on how international affairs attitudes interact with domestic political dynamics and identity formation. She teaches modules on World Politics since 1945, The Politics of Trade, and Quantitative Methods for Political Economy.
Education: PhD in Government (Cornell University).
Her research explores themes such as cryptocurrency policy, extremism, right-wing populism, and post-pandemic economic integration. Recent work includes studies on international organization membership effects and the impact of economic anxiety on globalization support. Her articles appear in the Journal of Politics and Journal of Elections, Public Opinion and Parties.
Awards include the Wade Jacoby Prize (EU Studies), David A. Lake Award (IPES), and Cornell’s Dean’s Prize for Teaching. She advises students in political economy and contributes to research groups like the Quantitative Political Economy and European Politics and Society groups.
