Nina Elisabeth Larsgård is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Section for Meteorology and Oceanography, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Oslo, where she conducts research at the intersection of cloud physics, observational meteorology, and data infrastructure.
Her academic credentials include a Master of Science in Meteorology from the University of Oslo (2008), with thesis research on "Characteristics of cirrus clouds over ALOMAR and their dependence on atmospheric conditions," and a Bachelor of Science in Physics, Astronomy, and Meteorology (2006), specializing in Meteorology.
Larsgård's research program centers on cloud microphysics—particularly cirrus cloud dynamics—and the application of in-situ instrumentation and remote sensing technologies for atmospheric monitoring. She maintains specialized expertise in metadata standardization, data quality assurance protocols, and end-to-end data management systems, developed through extensive operational experience.
Prior to her doctoral studies, she served 14 years as a Scientific Advisor at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (2008-2022), managing weather station networks and international data collaborations within the Division for Observation Quality and Data Processing. Concurrently, she worked part-time as a State Meteorologist (2013-2017), integrating forecasting practice with data stewardship.
She actively contributes to the Meteorology research group at the University of Oslo, focusing on observational methodologies and data integrity frameworks essential for climate modeling and weather prediction systems.
