Nina Boy is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Warwick with a PhD in Politics from Lancaster University, conducting research at the intersection of security studies and international political economy focused on (in)security in global finance, including theories of money, debt, value, and collateral from a socio-political perspective.
Education:
- PhD in Politics, Lancaster University
Research Interests: Her work integrates Security Studies, International Political Economy, and Political Economy of Money to examine financial security, safe assets, and collateral systems. She investigates socio-political imaginaries of finance through historical epistemology, political theory, and critical analysis of valuation frameworks in post-crisis finance, with particular attention to sovereign safety and cashless societies.
Publications Trends: Analysis of her 2011-2019 publications reveals deepening focus on collateral dynamics and safe asset theory, evolving from broad finance-security governance concepts toward technical examinations of collateral times, pledge mechanisms, and changing safety valuations in modern finance.

- EU FP7-funded Societal Security Network (SOURCE) - led Financial Security work package
- COST Action System risk, financial crisis & credit (2010-2014) - Management Team member leading Credit working group
