Nina Bandelj is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of California, Irvine. She holds faculty affiliations with the Center for the Study of Democracy and the Center for Organizational Research. Her work focuses on embedded economies, foreign direct investment in Central and Eastern Europe, and comparative institutional analysis.
Her research has been recognized through prestigious awards, including the Jean Monnet Fellowship (2006) and East Central European Post-Doctoral Fellowship (2005). She earned her Ph.D. with a dissertation titled Emma Embedded Economies: Foreign Direct Investment in Central and Eastern Europe, which won the Seymour Martin Lipset Dissertation Award in 2004.
